About the Event
Barrel Aged Charities will be hosting our 3rd annual Stave Off Prostate Cancer Whiskey Event. We are looking forward to delivering the best and most memorable event again this year!
New in 2024, we will be working with Chef Jamie Barnes to construct and serve a fully immersive dinner that will be sure to satisfy the finest of palates. With a culinary degree from Johnston & Wales, Jamie has trained in some of the top country clubs and fine dining restaurants and has held leadership roles along the way. After a decade in the restaurant industry, he stopped caring about the ‘traditional’ way of doing things. He now puts his spin on dishes while elevating them, calling it freestyle cooking.
Barnes was a founding member of Soul Food Sessions, a nonprofit pop-up dining series that raises money for scholarships to help minority culinary students. He is also an inaugural professional member of the Piedmont Culinary Guild and is passionate about supporting Autism Charlotte.
Also new this year, for the whiskey tasting, we will have a progressive format and offer three separate tasting stations. Each station will have a carefully selected lineup, consisting of three different whiskeys. These will be the finest and most rare whiskeys, curated by our Board Members of BAC. A tasting that’s one-of-a-kind and an experience you will never forget!
Finally, we will have our first-ever wine tasting station! If you want to focus on enjoying the best wines from around the world, you will have the option to taste carefully selected vintages from our own Dr. Todd Heniford’s private collection.
What to expect
5:00 pm – Cocktail Hour / Hors d'oeuvres - enjoy a handcrafted cocktail (or two) to start the evening w/ passed hors d'oeuvres while you mingle with fellow BAC supporters.
6:15 pm – Whiskey flight tasting begins. This is self-paced and intended to allow you to visit each station and enjoy the whiskey at your own pace as well as giving you the ability to revisit your favorite pours.
7:30 pm – Dinner is served . Relax and enjoy one of the finest meals prepared by chef Jamie Barnes. We are certain that you will be talking about this for a long time!
10:00 pm – Live auction begins. Please be sure to jump on these items. We will have some amazing packages to bid on!
For our Annual Stave Off Prostate Cancer Attendees
Each attendee will receive a one-of-a-kind, exclusive, rare bottle of bourbon, hand-selected by the Board of Barrel Aged Charities. Additionally, you will receive an Old-Fashioned Kit created by 6 of the city's best mixologists, providing you with everything you need to make their favorite Old-Fashioned recipes. Each kit includes the simple syrup, garnishes, and instructions to make 6+ Old-Fashioneds that serve two people each.
Raffle and Auction
We will feature the online raffle and auction for remarkable bottles of bourbon, experiences, and tasting packages, including bourbon and barbecue.
